Introduction
Adults learn differently from children, primarily because the former bring in a wealth of life experiences and knowledge unlike the latter who may in most learning contexts be assumed to have encountered the topic for the first time. Adults are also particularly prone to seeking immediacy of application and relevance of their knowledge to their personal/professional contexts. Therefore, educators working with adult need to present learning materials in a way that utilizes learners' knowledge, backgrounds, opinions and experiences. This unique "art and science" to facilitate adult learning is the basis of Knowles Theory of Adult Learning, Andragogy.
This info-graphic presents a brief background of andragogy, its basic assumptions of adult learners , Knowles learning principles and its implications for designing learning.
