Introduction

Learners are not passive respondents to stimuli, simply acting on learned associations and instincts. Instead, learners are active participants involved in the construction of their own knowledge. Constructivism as a learning theory describes knowledge that is not received or shaped by the features of the mind, but as actively built through interaction and interpretation.
