After reviewing several authoring tools, I have used Articulate Storyline to produce this very short learning module on the topic 'Elevator Pitch'.
Learning Context: During an employment workshop, students suggested that they will benefit from a short session on preparing an 'Elevator Pitch'. Hence, I produced a short video to address this need. The video can be accessed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFq2TWm6_hg
The video I produced earlier, although helpful in familiarizing learners with essential elements of an elevator pitch, did not provide learners with an opportunity to practice and self-assess their skills. I felt that while using the video, the learners were passively consuming learning content. Therefore, in this module I wanted to get them active interacting with their learning. I have also personalized their learning and embedded opportunities for knowledge-check and self-assessment.
Objective: To include all the essential elements in an elevator speech draft.
Reflection: I like the capability of the learning software to create engaging e-learning content which allows learners to take control of the pace and direction of their learning. Most importantly, I liked how the module I have developed can now be accessed from any browser as it is in HTML5 format. And together with the video I produced, the module provides learners with opportunities to practice what they have learnt, and receive immediate feedback. By printing a certificate, they can evidence their learning too.
The storyboard and the learning module are posted below. (They make take an extra second or two to load. Thank you for your patience).
